Some people watch magic shows because it makes them feel good. Some people watch movies because it makes them feel good as well. But they all know that it is just a bag of tricks, they are suspended in disbelief for an hour and a half and then they go back to their lives. People do not realize it is the same thing with religion which is all just a bag of tricks. The difference is when people leave the church, they carry on this disbelief that has been fed to them by a magician preaching the word of God. The reason they stay in disbelief is because it makes them feel better. People need a way to cope with the stresses of day to day life, but there’s a problem; these people let others think for them causing hate to others, like homosexuals for example.
Religion influences a person’s way of believing in the same way, atheists influence people to not believe in God, it is just like religion. My message here and in my book The Mathematics of Life is very simple…THINK FOR YOURSELF.
Humans have their own heads to think for themselves. It’s important that people understand we are all capable of being humane. Our goal as a species is to get along and make the planet a better place for humanity and all other beings. What we learn from the story of Babel is if we keep on “babeling” and bickering over beliefs we won’t get anything done. (I know this is not what they teach you in Church, I discuss this more in the book) We should not separate ourselves into different belief-oriented organizations where some people believe in this and others believe in that. When a bunch of people believe in the same thing, it becomes a power. People in power become bullies. No bully has the right to use force on an individual because the rights of the individual to be their own person is the most important right.
When you think for yourself you come up with a result. If other people think for themselves, they actually help humanity come up with new concepts to help the world. Most scientists who think for themselves come up with different theories and do not physically fight about it. They actually like to hear other theories about what their colleague’s came up with so they can find a better way of understanding something. With these theories comes the truth through tests. They don’t stick to one theory and let it sit forever, like religion.
There is no way for all people to think the same thing, there are still people who believe the Earth is flat... http://theflatearthsociety.org/cms/. My point is they are all thinking the same way because they did not come to that conclusion by themselves. If someone wants to believe the Earth is flat, then great. Good for him. But when people let themselves believe that person’s theory on only that person’s evidence, they become a blind follower. I’m saying, don’t be influenced. Be an individual. Find your own proof. Do you believe everything you read, hear or watch?
Some people misunderstand my explanation of how I’ve proven to myself that there is a power in this universe. As a child, I realized I had self awareness. I knew that I was in this body. By thinking for myself, I figured there has to be a power, the more I learned the more I understood the power of the universe. I named that power GOD.
The experiences I discussed in my book happened to me. I learned from it. It became knowledge. It is true to me because of that life experience. I do not have to prove it to anyone. Only you can prove things to yourself. What makes sense to you? I cannot prove that you are in your body; you have to prove that to yourself. It’s just like what René Descartes said, “I think, therefore I am.”
Religious people have a hard time admitting that throughout history, their religion has been the cause of many terrible things. In fact, many atrocities are still happening today in the name of religion. They say, “That’s not my religion, those are just the extremists!” But the extremists came from their religion. They are not thinking for themselves and are following the varied interpretations of their “holy” books.
They say beliefs are harmless but so many people have died over beliefs for centuries. American citizens died on September 11, 2001 because the Muslim extremists believed in their ridiculous doctrine. The problem is once you belong to an organization you are brought together by your one belief. This is unhealthy because in religion, you are letting people you believe have a direct connection to God tell you what to believe in.
People who think for themselves made the world a better place, from Archimedes all the way to Steve Jobs. (These people are all discussed in my book). People with different views actually enjoy discussing their views together because it helps them with their understanding. This is contrary to religion where they will shun or even kill you if you don’t think the way they do.
My book is not like other books, it is an example of how to think for yourself and how there are so many benefits that come because of it. It is not a book to make you part of the collective. It’s quite the opposite.
When you think for yourself you find the truth.
Here is the definition of the word atheism-------------notice no where does it say that an atheist "knows"
ReplyDeleteNo one knows----intelligent people use common sense and logic.
If you say you know, it can be proven, and should be proven.
This also applies to the word "truth"--------it most be proven.
Many people put their hand on a bible in court rooms every day and claim to tell the truth.
How many really do?
That is why they have court rooms--------to get to the truth.

Atheism is, in a broad sense, the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.[1] In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities.[2] Most inclusively, atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist.[3] Atheism is contrasted with theism,[4][5] which in its most general form is the belief that at least one deity exists.[5][6]
The term atheism originated from the Greek ἄθεος (atheos), meaning "without god", which was applied with a negative connotation to those thought to reject the gods worshipped by the larger society. With the spread of freethought, skeptical inquiry, and subsequent increase in criticism of religion, application of the term narrowed in scope. The first individuals to identify themselves as "atheist" appeared in the 18th century.[7]
Atheists tend to be skeptical of supernatural claims, citing a lack of empirical evidence. Atheists have offered various rationales for not believing in any deity. These include the problem of evil, the argument from inconsistent revelations, and the argument from nonbelief. Other arguments for atheism range from the philosophical to the social to the historical. Although some atheists have adopted secular philosophies,[8][9] there is no one ideology or set of behaviors to which all atheists adhere.[10]
Although in Western culture atheists are usually irreligious, some are spiritual.[11][12] Moreover, atheism also figures in certain religious and spiritual belief systems, such as Jainism, Buddhism, Hinduism, and Neopagan movements[13] such as Wicca.[14] Jainism and some forms of Buddhism do not advocate belief in gods,[15] whereas Hinduism holds atheism to be valid, but difficult to follow spiritually.[16]
Since conceptions of atheism vary, determining how many atheists exist in the world today is no easy task.[17] According to one estimate, about 2.3% of the world's population are atheists, while a further 11.9% are nonreligious.[18] According to another, rates of self-reported atheism are among the highest in Western nations, again to varying degrees: United States (4%), Italy (7%), Spain (11%), Great Britain (17%), Germany (20%), and France (32%).[19]
In 1997 the Project for the New American Century was founded. It’s stated proposition was that, “American leadership is good for both America and for the world.” It has been a strong advocate for American leadership, or domination, of the world. It has been very influential in the Bush administration. In 1998, members of the organization, including Donald Rumsfeld and Paul Wolfowitz warned President Clinton that Saddam was a threat and should be removed because of his weapons of mass destruction. In a report written in 2000 the group warned that “Over the long term, Iran may well prove as large a threat to U.S. interests in the Gulf as Iraq has.” Paul Wolfowitz became President Bush’s Deputy Secretary of Defense in 2001 and, immediately after the 9/11 attacks, pressed for the invasion of Iraq, an idea also strongly pushed by John McCain at the same time. Donald Rumsfeld was President Bush’s Secretary of Defense at the time.
ReplyDeleteThe fact that these three people immediately advocated an attack on Iraq as a response to 9/11 indicates that their view of the conflict is not too different from that of Osama bin Laden. This is a conflict between America and its policy of financial, military and political dominance throughout the Middle East and a small group of guerrilla fighters who view this as nothing less than the theft of the entire region’s wealth.Basically they feel they are getting a really, really bad deal.
There is no doubt that these guerrillas are fanatical fighters. There is no doubt they feel their backs are to the wall. There is no doubt they will employ suicide tactics again if they feel it will help achieve their objective. And there is also no doubt that this war is not about religion. It is not about Islam or Christianity. Nor is it about American freedom. It’s not about any of the great emotional issues that the leaders of all countries always try to stoke in order to get their young men to go out and die for their country.
The cause of the 9/11 attack is not radical Islam; it is the same as the cause for every war that has ever taken place. It’s about wealth. It’s about money. It’s about some people believing they are being exploited so badly that they and their way of life can’t survive, and the people on the other side not even aware of this and, come to think of it, not even caring whether they survive or not anyway.
The tragedy is that it is the innocent who always suffer the most.
